INTRODUCTION:

As part of the 2026 Adventist Community Services (ACS) Convention, the North American Division ACS is excited to introduce “Pitch the Well”, a one-time opportunity designed to both fund promising community programs and deepen your understanding of what makes a grant application stand out.

This grant offers more than just financial support. It invites you to step into the mindset of a funder. During a special general session, the top five proposals will be reviewed and discussed live by a panel of grantors. As a “fly on the wall,” you’ll gain valuable insights into how decision-makers assess applications—what catches their attention, what raises concerns, and what signals real impact.

Up to 20 complete applications will be accepted for review. From these, the top five finalists will be showcased at the Convention. After a panel discussion, Convention attendees will vote electronically to determine the final award rankings.

Five grants will be awarded:

1st Place – $5,000
2nd & 3rd Place – $2,500
4th & 5th Place – $1,000

Whether or not your proposal reaches the top five, this grant process is designed to strengthen your grant-writing skills and empower your program with valuable tools for future funding success.

To be considered for Pitch the Well, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a church-based Adventist Community Services (ACS) program in the North American Division.
  • Be registered for the 2026 ACS Convention (Portal will require uploading registration receipt).
  • Be present at the live general session during the Convention where finalist applications will be reviewed and voted on.

Applications will be evaluated on and must clearly demonstrate:

  • Sustainability of the program beyond the grant period.
  • Understanding of the effects of their program on clients and the community at large.
  • A thoughtful understanding of community needs, including how the program was designed in response to those needs.
  • Ability of the funds to strengthen the ACS Network.
  • Requests must fund a church-based, Adventist Community Services program.  Collaboration between ACS programs is encouraged.
  • Proposals must be submitted through the online portal and be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from 1) the church pastor and the 2) Conference Adventist Community Services Director.
  • Proposals must stand on their own. There will be no opportunity for applicants to answer questions or present live. Clarity, completeness, and persuasiveness in the written application are essential.
  • All funds must be used within six months of the Convention, and a brief report will be due at that time, sharing outcomes and insights.
  • Portal Opens: February 18,2026 at Noon Eastern Time. Download Working Template Document
  • Portal will close when 20 applications have been received or on March 4 2026, whichever is reached first.
  • Top applications will be reviewed in the general session on April 17, 2026 at 1pm eastern.
  • Finalists will sign a Grant Agreement before leaving the Convention.
  • Awards will be mailed to the Conference Office by May 6, 2026.
  • The Conference Office is responsible for forwarding the check to the local church and any auditing of funding use.

See timeline for working template document. Button for submissons will be live on February 18 12 noon Eastern.
