California Wildfires
California has been battling devastating wildfires for over a week, leaving thousands displaced and in need of immediate assistance. Adventist Community Services (ACS) is actively responding to the crisis with a series of actionable steps aimed at providing relief and support to those affected by the fires.
Here’s how ACS is stepping up:
- Shelter Support: Churches in the affected areas are being converted into shelters, offering a safe space for those unable to return to their homes.
- Essential Supplies: These churches are being stocked with critical supplies, including water, blankets, cots, and prepackaged food items, to meet the basic needs of evacuees.
- Gift Card Distribution: ACS is purchasing gift cards to provide financial assistance to wildfire victims, enabling them to address urgent personal needs during this challenging time.
- Collaboration and Collection Efforts: While we await a response from the American Red Cross to collaborate on using Seventh-day Adventist Churches as official shelters for those displaced, we are actively collecting and distributing non-perishable items to those in need.
ACS remains committed to staying connected with affected communities, assessing their evolving needs, and determining additional ways we can provide assistance during this crisis.
