Organizational Structure
National
The functions of Adventist Community Services are managed by the executive director, whose office is at the national headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. The national office is also comprised of staff who coordinates the organization's five programs throughout the U.S. and Bermuda.
Union
For administrative purposes, the nation is divided into eight unions: the Atlantic Union with headquarters in South Lancaster, MA; the Columbia Union with headquarters in Columbia, MD; the Southern Union with headquarters in Decatur, GA; the Lake Union with headquarters in Berrien Springs, MI; the Mid-American Union with headquarters in Lincoln, NE; the Southwestern Union with headquarters in Burleson, TX; the North Pacific Union with headquarters in Vancouver, WA; and the Pacific Union with headquarters in Westlake Village, CA. Each union is under leadership of a union Adventist Community Services director.
Conference
Unions are made up of smaller units known as conferences. There are 51 conferences in the United States and Bermuda and each is headed by a conference Adventist Community Services director. Conferences consist of local Adventist Community Services operations that are provided by churches and service centers, which are the forefront of Adventist Community Services. There are over 1,200 local ACS operations that specialize in social services which are adapted to meet local community needs. Each local operation is under supervision of a local Adventist Community Services director.
Adventist Community Services operates in respect to the legal standards that apply in the countries and communities in which it functions and upholds standards of integrity in its activities. To ensure the highest level of excellence is maintained, the Adventist Community Services national program is advised by a Board of Directors.
